Brief History
First coming to Japan in 1989, Kris Truter has spent most of his career in Japan, where he has earned the nickname, "The Japan Guy." With close to 20 years experience working at industry-leading, innovative medical device companies such as St. Jude Medical (Abbott) and ResMed, he built strategic partnerships with various Japanese distributors: Fukuda Denshi, Nihon Kohden, CHEST, and IMI to name just a few. In Aug 2016, he started Truter Consulting to help medical device companies expand their businesses in Japan and get the representation that they need. He believes that what makes a business thrive is the passion that drives it. A journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step.

Kris Truter
Founded Truter Consulting in 2016. Kris has close to 20 years experience in the medical device industry and 10 years teaching experience in Japan. Kris has a successful career in sales, marketing, and technical services management with internationally renowned medical devices companies. Kris graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University with a degree in Japanese/Chinese languages and has an MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix. Kris is also a dedicated member of Toastmasters International where he has served in many leadership roles including Area Director of northern Los Angeles, President of Tokyo Toastmasters, the oldest Toastmasters club in Japan that was chartered in 1954, and most recently, was a member of Minami Aoyama Business Toastmasters, where he had served in several leadership roles.

Atsushi Jin
Atsushi joined Truter Consulting in 2022. Atsushi started his career in the medical device industry, learning the business of cardiac rhythm management. He has over 25 years experience in sales, marketing, technical service, and risk management for internationally renowned medical device companies. Atsushi has managed more than 20 new product launches in the Japan market. He is an expert in all phases of business including strategic planning, product development, sales execution, training and education, and post-market surveillance. Atsushi has business level proficiency in English and Chinese. He also has basic conversation skills in Korean and Spanish.
